Questions & Answers
Your questions, answered.
Honest answers to the questions we hear most often from children's home owners, registered managers and providers exploring therapeutic support.
It's a consistent, relationship-based presence around your home, not a visiting therapy service. Depending on what your children and team need, it can include therapeutic consultation, reflective practice with the staff team, therapeutic formulation around individual children, direct therapeutic support, placement stability support and consultation with your manager. We shape it with you around your home's specific situation.
No. Much of our work happens around the child, with the adults who care for them every day. When a team understands what behaviour might be communicating and responds with curiosity rather than simply managing incidents, therapeutic change can happen in everyday moments. Direct therapeutic support with a young person can sit alongside that, but support never depends solely on a child attending sessions.
Individual therapy can be valuable, but on its own it can sit separately from the life of the home. Our approach surrounds the whole home: the child, the team and the leadership. The aim is to help the home itself become more therapeutic, so the benefits continue in every interaction, every day, not only during a weekly session.
Yes. Placement stability support is part of our therapeutic partnership offer. When a placement is under strain, we work with the team and manager to understand what might be happening for the child and the adults around them, and to think together about responses that help everyone feel safer and more held.
Reflective practice is a protected, facilitated space where staff can think honestly about the emotional impact of their work, explore situations from the child's perspective and consider different ways of responding. Teams often tell us it helps them feel safer, more understood and more confident in their practice, which in turn supports stability for children.
Our core courses include DDP PACE (delivered by Sabrina, an approved DDP PACE Trainer, over two non-consecutive days), Developmental Trauma & Attachment, Understanding Behaviour as Communication, and Professional Recording & Report Writing. Through our specialist associate network we also offer Life Story & Direct Work, and Autism & ADHD training. We can develop bespoke training around your home's specific needs.
As early as possible. We can contribute to your Statement of Purpose, support your manager, help shape the home's therapeutic approach, train your founding team and plan ongoing support. Building a therapeutic culture from day one is far easier than trying to retrofit one later.
Clinical partnership works at leadership and organisational level: therapeutic leadership input, clinical governance, organisational development, developing reflective cultures, workforce development, complex case consultation and specialist associate input. It's designed for providers who want therapeutic thinking embedded across their organisation, not only within individual homes.
Sabrina, Founder & Director, provides clinical leadership across all our work. Depending on your needs, support may also come from our growing network of specialist associates, carefully matched to your child, team or organisation. You'll always know who is working with you and why they've been chosen.
With a conversation. Tell us about your home, your children and your team, and what you're hoping for. There's no obligation, and we'll be honest about whether and how we can help. From there we can shape a proposal together.
