Therapeutic support that
surrounds the whole home.

Supporting children. Strengthening teams. Developing therapeutic cultures.

Feeling & Healing Therapeutic Services works in partnership with children's residential homes to embed trauma-informed, attachment-focused and relationship-based practice into everyday care.

Why Feeling & Healing?

Therapy shouldn't sit separately from everyday care.

Children living in residential care may have experienced trauma, disrupted attachments, loss, neglect and other adverse experiences. Their behaviour can often communicate needs and experiences that are difficult to express in words.

Feeling & Healing helps the adults around the child develop greater understanding of what may sit beneath behaviour, and consider how relationships, environments and everyday interactions can support emotional safety.

Our approach means therapeutic support does not depend solely upon a young person attending therapy. We work around the whole home — child, team and leadership.

Our approach

Five threads that run through everything we do.

A warm therapeutic children's home setting
Relationship-based care
Trauma-informed

Understanding how children's previous experiences may influence their present-day feelings, relationships and responses.

Attachment-focused

Recognising the importance of safe, consistent and emotionally available relationships.

DDP/PACE-informed

Using Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy to support connection and understanding.

Relationship-based

Therapeutic change often happens through everyday relationships and experiences — not only within formal therapy.

Reflective

Helping adults remain curious about both the child's experience and their own responses.

We don't ask simply, "What's wrong with this behaviour?" We help teams become curious about, "What might this behaviour be communicating?"

Support for new children's homes

Building a therapeutic home from the beginning.

We can work alongside providers preparing to open new children's homes — from therapeutic input into the Statement of Purpose to manager consultation, workforce training and planning for ongoing therapeutic support once the home becomes operational.

Specialist associates

No single professional can — or should — claim expertise in every area. Where needs fall outside our core expertise, we can consider bringing appropriately qualified associate input into the wider therapeutic partnership.

"
Feeling & Healing have become a really valued support to both the children and the staff team. Their support has helped us during some challenging times, giving staff a safe space to reflect on situations, look at things from the child's perspective and think about different ways we can respond and support them. The advice, feedback and guidance we receive is always helpful and has supported us to develop our practice and provide a more therapeutic approach within the home. Sabrina is also currently looking into bespoke training for the homes, as well as developing packages of training to further support both staff and children, ensuring that the support we receive continues to be tailored to our specific needs.
Kirsty McArthur, Dual Manager
"
Sabrina's involvement in our team meetings has given the team a much deeper understanding of PACE and how it can be effectively applied in practice. Her input has supported us in developing a greater understanding of our young people and recognising the impact of trauma on their behaviours. It has also helped us to identify trauma responses that we may not have previously considered or recognised, enabling us to reflect on our approach and respond to our young people with greater understanding and empathy.
Charlotte Bruder, Registered Manager

We find that working with Feeling and Healing continues to be of huge benefit to our children, staff teams, and us as care providers, and look forward to many more years of successfully helping our young people achieve their goals. We would absolutely recommend Feeling and Healing to any provider looking for a therapeutic partner for their homes.
